International Boxing Event
On October 30, 2015, the Moth Foundation (then named Knockout Cancer) hosted a set of international boxing matches between Sharipov MMA Academy in the U.S., and Repton Boxing Club in the U.K. The event took place at Orange County Convention Center and included entertainment, concessions, and a V.I.P. dinner.
Charity Donation
The event raised money for Kids Beating Cancer, a fantastic charity run by Margaret Guedes and the Police Athletic League of Florida.
Why Boxing?
For many years of their friendship, Gary McCarthy and David Moth discussed bringing the Repton Boxing Club to Orlando to fight some of the best local amateurs. This dream came to fruition in October 2015 when Repton brought a team to Orlando, Florida for a week to spend time with Sharipov MMA Academy and enjoy the local sites.
The event was capped off with a formal evening at The Orlando Convention Center where the teams fought a great round of bouts, with the UK team taking home bragging rights for the win. When all was said and done we had 800+ people attend and we were fortunate enough to be able to give to both Kids Beating Cancer of Central Florida as well as the Police Athletic League.
